Lives on the Line - Erin Brush

In the midst of the heavy traffic that now rushes Bozeman and its surrounding areas, Montana Highway Patrol troopers must respond to accidents as soon as possible in order to remove them from the roadways.

Troopers must work quickly to check the status of those involved in the accident, call an ambulance if necessary, and call a tow truck to promptly move the wreckage out of the way of oncoming traffic before it causes more accidents.

Not only do the troopers need to work quickly under pressure, but they must also put their own lives in danger by maneuvering through heavy highspeed traffic when drivers are not always paying attention. Officers have been hit on accident sites, and these incidents have proven to be fatal.
