Trooper David DeLaittre Memorial

On December 1, 2010, Trooper David DeLaittre was killed in the line of duty in Three Forks, Montana. DeLaittre was called to check a vehicle on the side of the road. When he pulled up a man opened fire and killed Trooper DeLaittre.

11 years later, a procession of police vehicles with lights flashing drove from the interstate to The Trooper David DeLaittre Memorial to remember Trooper Delaittre and other fallen officers. The memorial park was created by David's dad, Dennis, shortly after he was killed.

Four lines of Troopers stand at attention gazing upon the police car placed on a raised platform engraved with the names of those who didn’t come home after their shift. A group of about 20 people stood in front of the building waiting for the ceremony to start.

The officers were called to attention while three officers approached the flag poles and lowered three flags. Dennis talked to the officers and those gathered thanking everyone who attended the service and how much it meant to him that everyone was there to remember David. Dennis wants his son to be remembered and one way of doing that is the Trooper David DeLaittre Memorial Park. Those who pass by remember what it can cost to serve Montana.
